How
Traditional broadcasters push
programs to their audiences – someone else decides what day and time you will listen to their show. This is effectual as long as you’re around, and you don’t miss it! With podcasting the listener has full control. You instruct your computer to search on topics that interest you, when you’re interested in listening to them.
By utilising the Internet as our medium, ZetCast allows its producers to have a centralised point from which to reach you, our audience. This effectively gives you full control over your listening pleasure combined with the ease of access to all ZetCast shows from our categorised and tagged site.
RSS Feeds
You may subscribe to all of ZetCast’s output, or individual “feeds” from specific shows, comments, by clicking the relevant RSS feeds and loading the feed into your favourite aggregator software (sometimes referred to as ‘podcatching’ software). We recommend iTunes, Juice and Doppler, all of which are free to download and use). Some aggregators allow you to subscribe by drag and dropping the RSS icons onto the software window. Please refer to your aggregators manual/help files for more information.
RSS Feeds can be found on each of the ZetCast show pages and the “Meta” section of the sidebar menu. Each are highlighted by standardised RSS feed icons as shown below (the icons are inactive and are provided for demo purposes).
Why should I subscribe to a feed?
Subscribing to a feed with your favorite aggregator means as soon as a new show is published you get access to it immediately in your aggregator without having to re-check ZetCast. We hope, however, that you do come back to the site as there are other feeds, new shows, show comments, ZetCast articles and blog entries, etc. being added constantly. You won’t have access to these unless you re-visit the site!
Comments
If you join up and login to ZetCast you gain the ability to leave comments on shows and or on the ZetCast articles. Do feel free to do so as its a great way to communicate with the producers.
Alternatively if you are a member of Shetlink, feel free to post comments in the ZetCast discussion thread.
